This project features a sturdy, mono-pitch timber roof attached directly to the home’s stone exterior. To support the weight of the massive roofing timbers, we utilized heavy-duty posts with elegant, curved bracing that softens the industrial strength of the structure. The rafters are spaced to allow for a feeling of openness while providing a solid, permanent roof that stands up to heavy snow and wind.
The craftsmanship is visible in the flush-mount joints where the timbers meet the stone, requiring precise measurements and custom masonry anchors. By matching the timber’s tone to the home’s accents, we created a structure that looks like it was part of the original architectural plan. It’s the perfect spot for an outdoor kitchen or a quiet afternoon overlooking the fields.
