This project focuses on a massive, natural-finish timber trestle that defines the transition between living spaces. The heavy horizontal beam is supported by vertical posts and reinforced with hand-cut diagonal knee braces, all secured with traditional joinery. By integrating these structural elements, we’ve transformed a standard room opening into a bold architectural statement that emphasizes height and craftsmanship.
The raw, light-toned wood provides a striking contrast against the darker, diagonal cedar paneling of the bay window nook. Every surface has been meticulously sanded to a smooth finish, highlighting the organic knots and grain patterns of the timber. It’s a perfect example of how “exposed bones” can add warmth and a sense of permanence to a modern home interior.
