In this rustic dining hall, we integrated a complex rafter and ridge-beam system that mimics the sturdy aesthetics of a traditional lodge. The overhead woodwork features a central spine supported by curved braces, creating a rhythmic flow that leads the eye toward the expansive arched window. The rich, golden stain on the ceiling timbers perfectly complements the chinked log walls, creating a cohesive, warm environment.
The real challenge—and triumph—of this space is the precision required to marry the square-cut roof timbers with the uneven, organic surfaces of the log walls. By using heavy-duty timber connectors and expert scribing, we ensured that the structure is as durable as it is beautiful. The result is a dining space that feels grounded, protected, and deeply connected to the natural world.
