For this outdoor project, we constructed a premium shadowbox privacy fence designed to provide security while allowing for airflow and aesthetic depth. By alternating the vertical pickets on either side of the horizontal rails, we created a “good neighbor” fence that looks identical from both sides. This technique is particularly effective for large backyards, as it breaks up the “wall” effect with subtle shadows and a three-dimensional texture.

The use of pressure-treated, high-quality timber ensures that the structure will withstand the elements while maintaining its structural integrity for years to come. Each section is capped with a decorative top rail, giving the fence a finished, architectural look that complements the surrounding landscape and heavy foliage. We opted for a natural stain that allows the wood’s organic character to shine through while providing a necessary barrier against UV rays and moisture.

From an engineering perspective, the posts are set deep in concrete and reinforced to ensure a perfectly level line across the property, even with the natural undulations of the ground. Proper spacing between the pickets was calculated to ensure maximum privacy without creating a “sail” effect during high winds. It is a clean, robust solution for homeowners looking to define their space with the timeless warmth and reliability of professional woodwork.
